Question Is this normal?

My tabby is starting to get a bit aggressive with her two kittens, which are
about 3-4 months old now. She hisses as they come near her even striking at
them at times. Actually, she even goes out of her way to give them a bit of
a touch up. Its fun to watch the young male thinking mummy wants play with
him... he ends up with a fat lip lol.

Is this a cats way of weaning, or should I get her a shrink? Docs?

She was quite gentle/loving/caring/spoiling/washing/cooking up until a couple
of days ago.

Any advice/suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated.

Are the kittens still suckling from her, if so i think she may well be over it all, plus they will have sharp teeth causing her some discomfort.

Most kittens are already away from mother by 8 weeks, definately she is over it. She is just letting them know where they stand now. Nothing wrong, just a part of nature.

Yep - I think it's just her way of saying "rack off and give mummy some friggin' space!"

Keep in mind that theoretically 1 human year is 9 cat years, so theoretically the kittens are equivalent to a 3 year old human - and how annoying are 3 year olds!

(Disclaimer: I am perfectly aware that the above is of dubious scientific factual value, but it is a good point so ner...)

Thanks for the replies people. I'm glad its just that. And yes, the young male (being a male?!?!?!) was still trying to suckle up to a couple of days ago... funniest thing to watch, its like when you're laying back you're on a creeper trolley under your car. Either that or he would walk beside/underneath her with his mouth attached to the nip.
