Why is it some people seem to lack the ability to put two and two together?
Forum member makes a post about the horrible noise emanating from his engine. You know the sort, thud thud thud, tap tap tap tap. Clearly something is very wrong.
The usual assortment of suggestions follow as to what it could be, along with a number of questions to the
OP. The
OP then slowly starts adding quite telling information, piece by piece, post by post.
So, the owner ended up rebuilding his engine at some point, ignoring the importance of measuring tolerances, while also adding a number of aftermarket parts. He then had it tuned, allowing him to rev the engine to 8100rpm, stating that he "would be revving higher but the car doesn’t make more power." Keep in mind this is a Gen-2 Coyote V8 that has a factory 6,800rpm rev limit.
So, an engine rebuilt by a novice not following procedure, tuned and then revved up to and beyond 8,100rpm. Well, derrr! No bloody wonder it's got terminal sounding rod knock.
