next time call him sweetheart and not bud and I will guarantee you will get his private number!

rodderz 09-08-2005 05:44 PM

I used to always hate those telemarketers ringing up, almost always at teatime or so...but now that I've got my own house i'm waiting to get another one where I can start playing with THEIR head!

b2tf 09-08-2005 05:45 PM

 - one thing I have to thank Seinfeld for - anybody seen the episode where the telemarketer calls him, and he asks for their number so he can call them back at annoying times of the day? Absolute gold that one.

Duffman 09-08-2005 06:32 PM

Ah telemarketing sucks! At work on a monday night they like us to call customers who have bussiness with us and try to get them to convert to a loan instead of creditcard. Getting someone is good but the main thing is to say hay we are at such a location and thats about it just so they know us - as we only doing the surrounding suburbs. Its not too bad as they already have bussiness with us but it sucks as I know im annoyin em! Id hate to be in real telemarketing as this is bad enough!

reece1 09-08-2005 09:57 PM

i tell them the boss is not in he is at the other store and give them your mates number and name. that way u can f**k them both :tomato:

Peuty 09-08-2005 10:05 PM

Hahahaha I did that once before, it was a ****a!

xr8 007 09-08-2005 11:01 PM

Why do they always call at the worst bloddy times! i just simply and firmly say that "I DONT DO DEALS OVER THE PHONE" and hang up. i feel bad but they are so pushy and call during dinner time! Oh and door to door sales people,,do these people actually get deals happening

Feathers 09-08-2005 11:47 PM

They usually hang up when I answer the phone.
"NSW state home for the Mentally Bewildered, this is Jane in admissions.."

or if my Dad answers: "Helen's happiness club, Helen speaking.."

Occasionally we'll play with them. Lead them on for a week or so, and then bounce them when they call to close the deal.
Same goes for door to door sales people, people who hand out flyers in the street and Scientologists :P

I also do it to the reps that come into work.
If I'm at lunch, don't come near me asking for tickets, or I will abuse you.
I usually ask if they appreciate telemarketers calling them in the middle of dinner, and when they say no, I tell them "I don't like it either, goodbye."

MITCHAY 09-08-2005 11:48 PM

I just hang up. Usually im too tired to give a f**k. They will start talking i just throw the phone and go back to sleep.

Lucky you were up by 12 or you coulda missed half the day!

WizBang 10-08-2005 12:17 AM

Had one ring me the other day on the mobie phone (AAPT) and tryed to sell me cheaper call rates and all I could do is **** my self and the guy on the other end didn't sounld too bright to start with but must of felt dummer when I told him he had rang a Telstra work phone

Dezza 10-08-2005 12:37 AM

This reminds me. A woman rang one of my mates up trying to sell a phone. He thought she sounded hot so he went along with what she was saying (he had to have had a few beers beforehand). In the end, she's thanking him for buying a $1000 phone! She hung up just as he'd realised what he'd done. That's certainly one purchase he's regretted, but we all get plenty of laughs from it.

It's illegal to knowingly deal sales with people who are under the influence, metally retarded, or don't speak English well. She probably didn't know he was half ****ed, but I'm sure he could've cancelled whatever contract they'd done him.

Last time I got a telemarketer I said "oh yeah?! wow, can you give me more detail?", put the phone on the bench and continued watching TV. Mean, but I guess I'm off their list now - haven't had a TM call since! :the_finge

K_Man 10-08-2005 01:53 AM

If telemarketers ring up about phone deals, just say 'Yeah, that sounds pretty good, but i dont have a phone. Sorry.'

Or just say whoever they're asking for is dead (Make sure it's not a bank or someone else important!).

InitialD 10-08-2005 02:01 AM

I had TM ring once raising money for something or other and was bored so decided to have a nice chat to them... after 5mins they asked if I was interested in donating money or not.. i replied "I have no money I thought you were saying you were donating money to me?"

they call all the time but I did get cought out as Kman just said with the say they're dead... I said I didnt live here once as i was sick of getting calls for home loans (as if they would give me one:P) I said he doesnt live here anymore... Turned out its was my bank and they didnt send me my new atm card

LMAO. And with a guys voice... I'm sure they go quiet for a few seconds while they get their head around what was just said.

Telemarketers are fun if you're in a witty mood but damn annoying if they call when you're busy/sleeping.
Anyone who offers me "free calls" or phone deals is usually told "Sorry, I dont have a land line"
They usually say, ok bye.
Pretty stupid considering the number they just dialled was a landline.
Most are probably auto diallers as there is usually a delay in when you answer and they speak.

pauljh74 10-08-2005 04:51 AM

What's worse is when you pick up the phone and get a pre-recorded message asking you to press 1 to continue to find out about their fantastic offer *click* (That's usually as far as I listen to)

Don't let the closet door hit you on the **** on your way out, Minge...

(*Bindi begs for forgiveness from the almighty Mingey*)

I have an unlisted number and therefore tend not to get these annoying phone calls. It's worth the $2.68 a month. My mum gets them all the time. I think it's such an invasion of privacy and should be illegal.

Duffman 10-08-2005 11:49 AM

What do you think about what I have to do at work it sucks! Its only 1 night a week for 2hrs but I gotta convince them that its a BAD idea what should I say? I dont mind if its day calls BUT NOT NIGHT neither person wants to do it! Like I said they have bussiness with us but I still think its WRONG!

deankdx 10-08-2005 12:36 PM

i wonder what would happen if you said you were just doing a burglery on the house but the deal sounds interesting and you'd like it at "you're own home"

lol im gonna try that one lol gold

LuvinmyEB 10-08-2005 02:07 PM

I hated doing telemarketing, not because people were rude, actaully 99% of them were actually pleasant. It was cash in hand and I needed the extra $$. In the end I ended up becoming his computer tech (a business with no anti virus protection :Whatever_ ) and The Maddestman became his web site designer. :hihi:

You get told to call in the evenings because that's when people are at home, I tried doing it from 10am - 2pm, nobody answers the phone or you hear Days Of Our Lives in the background.

Silent numbers aren't protected either, there is a company that sells CD's with every phone number on it, mine was on it and it's always been silent (I tracked down a couple of old enemies using it. :evil_laug).

Now that I think about it, that website could do with a facelift, I might email him.

Damn straight! And they call at the most inconvenient times - why are we always seated at the table eating dinner or unwinding after a long day on the couch getting comfortable?

I know people are "only doing their job," but I couldn't give two sh!ts. They get paid to put up with impatient and rude people on the phone like me! :shootout:
