Driving home yesterday evening in country, the bugs and flying insects were thick!
Damn I thought car is needing a scrub tomorrow, then the brain went sideways.
How can I make this easier and well I havent tried it yet.... but what if I wrapped the bonnet and roof in glad wrap, would have to do it length ways to hinder wind pressure love to do the windscreen and just peel off like race cars ha ha
and no I have not been doing 'stuff' just very tired and my head goes in strange directions.

How high are you? Wrap the bonnet and test it for me. Take photos of the melted plastic everywhere

Make sure that you put Glad Wrap across the front grill to keep the bugs out of the radiator.

Fair go, its only a mad idea,

You would have to wrap it under to get it to hold in the wind. Basic car glad wrapping principles

I use spray oil on my cars. Little feckers slip right off.

Next trip to Adelaide (2 weeks time) I am trying it....whats the worst can happen, forced stop at Tumby Bay and peel it off.

Should glad wrap melt due to a bit of heat soak from the bonnet, go one step up and use silver foil - couple pieces of bacon underneath and there 's brekkie.

Buy a Car Bra. I don't leave town without it.

Get home and scrubbing brush/scourer pad with Spray 'n Wipe and all gone. :)

When going on long or country trips, just remove the bonnet and front panels. Just make sure that you leave the panels outside,so they fade at the same rate as the ones left on the car.

On a more serious note, perhaps look at a clear vinyl wrap. It may be easier to clean.

That is rubbish. maybe the cling wrap we have is better quality. Its commercial grade and almost 600mm wide I think I could do a OK job.

I would just give the car a proper wax before the trip, if the bugs don't just hose off after, a light sponge job should get the rest off. From my experience, dry wax less paint takes just as long to clean as waxing a car.

Its got to be bubble wrap as a minimum. No more stone chips. And if you get helium filled bubble wrap, car is lighter and better fuel economy.

Ohhhhhhh - helium filled water balloons attached to the car with blu tac.

you can actually get the clear vinyl wrap that normally would be coloured on cars. lot of effort tho for bugs.... would be handier to have a clear wrap for windscreens kinda like the phone protector sheets. when it gets icky just take a layer off :)

1) Get one of those cocoon bubble things.

2) Put car in cocoon, and on back of truck.

3) Arrive at destination with immaculate clean car.

4) Win.

Follow van until it deviates from where you're going to.

street wrap is the go , theres another one , its a paint on type , latex film ,the name escapes me , but it is equally as good.

if you used foil would your mobile phone still work?

what about something along the lines of the Peter Brock ioniser? have a charge on the vehicle, but a repelling (repulsive?) charge to repel the bugs?
if it repelled (?) water and dirt, you may never need to clean the car again; it would pay for itself in no time at all.

wouldn't be hard to do!

I use that trick at night when I don't want to run into any skippys.

With plastic wrap all u need is a nearby warehouse with a pallet wrapping machine, your car will be done all the way round in 20 seconds.
